Roseanne in the Can

If you grew up in the ninety’s watching television then you know, “Roseanne” as a popular American sitcom starring Roseanne Barr. A family show with humor and interesting characters, offering realistic stories of a middle class family in America. Fictional but still relatable. Well, unfortunately the show’s last season originally aired in September of 1996. But fast forward to 2018, where the show was again picked up by ABC and set to premier on March, 27. Exciting right?  roseanne-tv-show-cast

Apparently a lot has happened with technology over the years and social media has become a big way for people to interact and share their opinions online. Roseanne Barr took to twitter to share some of her thoughts about former government official,  Valerie Jarrett. She tweeted, “ Muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes had a baby..” After immediate backlash for her statement she claimed was a joke, she tweeted, “ I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me, my joke was in bad taste.”

However, not all would be forgiven so easily after the tweet went viral. ABC decided to cancel the reboot of the show. Roseanne then took several interviews with ABC News and The Today Show, among others, apologizing again for her statements. She went on to express her regret and explaining how she lost everything. But, her statement seemed to have given her a permanent bad impression. To make matters worse, she gave an official statement on YouTube, stating, “ I thought Valerie Jarret was white..”  Roseane

ABC went on to create a spin off of the popular show, “Roseanne”, which will now be known as, “The Conners”, set to premier Tuesday October 16 on ABC. Roseanne Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series. The show will feature some original cast members as well as new ones that have not yet been announced. According to Roseanne, her character will be killed off the show after suffering an opioid overdose. Which she revealed on Brandon Straka’s YouTube show “Walk Away”. This may effect the shows premier and story line. Roseanne also spoke about her characters demise in an exclusive interview with E News, which you can watch in the link below. I’m interested in seeing how the new show will play out. Please Comment your thoughts.
